Hadoop Summit Demo

Summary
A keynote demonstration for Hadoop Summit 2016 — a 'Hadoop app store' where data services and applications assemble, deploy, and govern themselves on stage.
Intro
Hadoop Summit is the leading conference for the Hadoop community, hosted by Hortonworks and Yahoo!. I was honored to build a demonstration for the 2016 keynote alongside tech lead Vinod and UX designer Priyanka.
Premise
An app store for data.
The demo imagined a future where Hadoop applications and data services could be assembled, deployed, and governed as easily as installing an app on a phone — a marketplace pattern applied to the cluster itself.
My role was the front-end build: the interface that had to read clearly from a thousand seats and stay perfectly on time with the speaker's narration.

On Stage
Built for three thousand engineers.
Stage-grade typography, hand-tuned animation curves, deterministic state so the presenter could speak to the demo like a metronome. The video of the keynote is still online — the demo segment begins around the 1h 20m mark.
Built end-to-end in a few weeks, shown once, and immortal in the team's memory.
